Mon Salai

LEONARDO DA VINCI (1452 - 1519)

This drawing shows us Gian Giacomo Caprotti, the favourite disciple of Leonardo da Vinci whom he called "Salai" which means "Little Devil".

According to Vasari, Salai was graceful and had long wavy hair. It is also said that Salai was the model for Leonardos "Mona Lisa".
At least the name of the painting is an anagram of "Mon Salai".
