WILHELM BUSCH (1832 - 1908)
Boy with Butter Bread (w.d.)

In this later drawing created during the 1870's, Busch has long overcome all mannerisms, all conscious and intentional efforts which had dominated his drawings in earlier periods.
In his souvereign mastery, his art of drawing has reached a level of perfection in which the soulfulness of the object becomes one with the soulfulness of the representation.
